Pronouns: They, Them
Growing up in Northern Nevada, Nnedi’s parents have owned and operated the small business they started 21 years ago, managing 24-hr supported living arrangements (SLAs) for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities. That small business gave Nnedi their first job as a caregiver and a close-up view of the ways in which our mental and behavioral health care system is stretched too thin to meet the needs of Nevadans who rely on it. Thus, the spirit of their activism was born.
A nationally recognized leader in youth organizing, Nnedi has held dozens of in-person, hybrid, and virtual trainings on topics such as leveraging digital organizing and communications strategies, career development for political professionals post-COVID quarentine, and translating organizational awareness and intuition into the kinds of diverse, equitable, and inclusive practices important for social change/justice organizations that prioritize living up to their values.
Nnedi founded Solidarity Works to expand their ability to support jobseekers find roles that amplify their talents, support workers in transforming/refining organizational structures to best support their social change work, and help non-profits, start-ups, and social change/justice organizations hire equitably and live their values!
As a community organizer, organizational development consultant, human services operational administrator, and former candidate for public office, Nnedi Stephens has a variety of experiences supporting non-profits, capaigns, start-ups, small businesses, and the workers that make their work possible!
