LET’S GET BACK TO BASICS AND BUILD COMMUNITY as only young dems can!
For all of us organizers, the foundation of our work is centered on the one-on-one. We hone our skills of active listening and power mapping to understand the person sitting across from us and how our shared values and dedicated causes might overlap.
Nnedi is running to be one of YDA’s DNC Representatives because YDA, and the Democratic Party need to get back to the basics of organizing! If elected, Nnedi will focus on the key priorities below.
-
Protecting our democracy and advocating for issues that matter is a year round commitment; raising the funds to support that work must be year-round, too.
As one of YDA’s National Committee Representatives, bi-weekly call-time is a straightforward commitment that you can expect from Nnedi, as well as increased call time leading up to regional conferences and national convention planning
Nnedi will work with members of the YDA executive board to put forth the first comprehensive fundraising plan that this organization has seen in years. While others seek a patron-like relationship with the DNC, building our own sustainable fundraising infrastructure is the only way to protect our collective power at the negotiating table.
-
We can no longer allow good ideas to die in the dark without the systems to implement them. Our members demand more from us
Nnedi will work to help create clear channels of collaboration, not only between YDA and the DNC, but additionally the progressive movement organizations represented by DNC members under 36.
We must guarantee transparency to our members around resources from the DNC and the coalition power we seek to harness.
-
YDA exists in a space where our individual members have strong progressive organizational relationships, but YDA overall does not. This must change
YDA needs to prioritize creating partnerships with like-minded organizations, many of whom already engage our members individually, so we can provide access and resources to all of our members
Building long-term relationships will be key to how YDA supports the new regions and regional leadership to recruit, retain, and develop talented activists in communities across the country
Inspired by the servant leadership model, this campaign website is a visual representation of the mutual aid approach to organizing that you can expect from me as your elected DNC representative.
